I spent some time today looking through the images I captured for The Post-Standard over the past year and thought I’d share with you some of those I liked best. Some are significant because of the news value or timeliness, others more impactful because of the composition or setting. I think it’s a good process for any photographer to go through, and it makes me excited about a new year and fresh opportunities behind the lens!

Great Shots! Looking forward to what 2010 will bring for Lauren Long Photography!

These images beg the question–do you actually see these shots as you take them, or do you feel them, somehow “know” them? There is so much more captured than light reflecting off of flesh, fabric, stone, or other objects. These moments are instantaneous–how could you possibly recognize a shot and process that thought, then have your mind tell your hands to tell your equipment to snap the shot, all in an infinitesimal nanosecond of time?? Your work is the launch point where technique leaves off and talent takes over. Wow. Just, wow…

Thank you for the nice comments! Taylor, I’m looking forward to working with you on your portrait project – excited to see what kind of images we can come up with to best tell your story. Already some great ideas to start with!
